很喜歡 LA Style 這個風格，所以順手梳理一些脈絡 (根本就是在翻譯 wiki 吧 ~"~)

Contemporary hiphop, commercial hiphop, lyrical hiphop, entertainment hiphop, urban dance, choreography etc.
LA Style 並不是個被正式認可的名稱，只是當初流行的時候人們為了要討論，所以還是給它一個 label 叫 LA Style，而非全 LA 的人都只跳這種舞，然後東岸都沒人這樣跳的意思。像 Wiki 上面就不是用 LA style 而是 Commercial style/Lyrical hip-hop [1][2] 的條目來編寫。Urban dance 的由來則是因為在之後的發展中 Urban Dance Camp 常邀請 Movement Lifestyle 的老師來教課，這類風格的上課影片在網路上被大家瘋狂轉傳，有些地方的人便用 Urban dance 來稱呼這個舞風。
LA style is not a formal style name. At the beginning, people just need a term for discussing this kind of dance, so we labeled it by "LA style". In Wikipedia, it was written by "Commercial style" or "Lyrical hip-hop". Some said "Urban dance" of this style because the Urban Dance Camp frequently invite the dancers of Movement Lifestyle for the classes, and the video has been widespread on the Internet, that's the reason that some people called "Urban dance" by this style.
和 Hiphop 的不同 / The difference between Hiphop & LA Style [3]
Wikipedia 上解釋了為什麼有人不認為這是 Hiphop 的一部份。理由像是這種太對歌詞的編舞失去了 Hiphop 詮釋音樂的純粹性，尤其 Hiphop 是起源於街頭，最核心的文化內涵是很 free-style 的，而非這種從工作室出來的排舞。 (你沒看過 LA style 的 battle 吧) 但它很多動作畢竟是從 Hiphop 中，結合了 Jazz-funk 所衍生出來，實在很難直接把它跟 Hiphop 切割開來。
怎麼流行起來的 / How does it get popularize?
從網路上撈到的資料來看，我們不得不提的有 Napoleon & Tabitha 夫妻 [4]，還有創辦 Movement Lifestyle 的 Shaun Evaristo [5][6]。
Napoleon & Tabitha (後續簡稱 NTB) 的職涯前期在 Las Vegas 工作，像是幫賭場或是一些公司製作音樂舞台劇。在製作的過程中，他們希望能讓觀眾更直接感受到舞蹈，所以他們開始嘗試一些 Lyrical Hiphop 的技巧，因為用這樣的編舞方式更能將故事傳達給觀眾。
搬到 LA 之後到 2007 年之間，他們陸續成為一些歌手的儲備舞者，甚至是演唱會的助理導演。這十年算是他們在 Lyrical hiphop 中慢慢發酵跟醞釀的時期，直到 2008 年 NTB 負責 American Best Dance Crew 的團體編舞，這個舞風開始在美國爆炸性地發展。Shaun Evaristo 在大約 2009 年底左右成立 Movement Lifestyle，延攬許多當時受到 Lyrical Hiphop 啟發的編舞者，像：S**t Kingz [7], Keone & Mariel Madrid [8], Brian Purpos [9] etc. 並促成這些舞者和國外娛樂公司的合作 [10]。至此之後，世界各國的 MV 都被這個舞風廣為影響，成為我們現在看到的樣子。
